WELCOME TO MY PRACTICE

ERICA BOWMAN, LA.C

A Napa native, Erica has been practicing Classical Chinese Medicine in her office in Saint Helena, California, for fifteen years. Board Certified in acupuncture and therapeutic massage, she is trained in a number of complementary healing therapies which she combines to give her patients deeply personal, intuitive, custom care. Erica extends her healing work by empowering her patients, both adults and children, with tools and practices for helping with pain, illness, relaxation, energy flow, and well-being while facilitating their bodies' natural desire for wellness.
Acupuncture is an ancient art known for pain relief, and it does that and more. Erica's practice embraces the healing power of acupuncture within the whole idea of Chinese Medicine. the guiding principle of which she describes, "As outside, so inside. As the seasons move and the forces in nature create change in our visible world, so do the forces of our bodies have rhythms and elements that change and flow and must feed each other as well as exert some control over each other so one does not get out of hand. Chinese Medicine works to bring our energies into balance so the life forces in our bodies can flow."
In Chinese Medicine, the lotus is a symbol of vitality. The lotus grows from the murky waters of a pond and blossoms only when it emerges from the depths and reaches the warmth and light of the sun. Erica takes the metaphor into her practice, letting the murky waters symbolize the stagnation and disease that can affect our physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Erica's practice of Chinese Medicine aims to free, strengthen, and nourish that revitalizing energy. Erica begins her treatment by listening. She lets the patient's body tell her what it needs. In the course of her treatment, she engages the patient's energy, teaching what most of us think we already know but don't: how to breathe. The Chinese character on her logo means "Breath," and breath is the essence of her work. Erica radiates delight in the magic she sees at work every day, in animals, in her patients, in her two children, through the healing power of Chinese Medicine. She tells the story of how she became an acupuncturist and how it all came about because of a dog on her blog.
